120 Bahadur Box Office Collection: Farhan Akhtar’s war drama sees dull start – Check Day 1 earnings

Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur began its theatrical journey on a weak note, collecting Rs 2.35 crore on day one, according to early estimates from Sacnilk. Despite carrying a patriotic theme and generating conversation ahead of release, the film failed to draw audiences in significant numbers on its opening day.The movie, centred on the Battle of Rezang La, had created buzz earlier in the week for becoming the first film to premiere in defence theatres across India, a tribute to the nation’s armed forces. However, this milestone did not translate into footfalls at commercial cinemas. The all-India occupancy for day one stood at around 5 percent, indicating a noticeably slow start for the war drama.120 Bahadur faced competition from Masti 4, a franchise-led comedy that caters to mass-market single-screen audiences. While both films opened in a similar range, Masti 4 managed to stay marginally ahead with a Rs 2.50 crore day-one collection. Its established brand recall and appeal among smaller centres likely gave it a slight advantage over Farhan Akhtar’s serious-themed drama.Adding to the film’s challenges, several shows across the country were reportedly cancelled due to low turnout. Mixed word-of-mouth further dampened the opening momentum. Industry trackers note that while the trailer had generated curiosity, the film’s initial response has been below expectations.Meanwhile, ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ collected Rs 2.25 crore on its eighth day, showcasing steadier performance than the fresh releases. If the lacklustre trend for 120 Bahadur and Masti 4 continues, exhibitors may allocate more shows back to De De Pyaar De 2 to meet audience demand. For 120 Bahadur, the upcoming weekend is crucial. The film needs a visible jump on Saturday and Sunday to stay in the race. A first-weekend total of Rs eight crore to Rs ten crore remains the target, though early signals suggest an uphill battle. The film’s subject may still help if word-of-mouth improves, but the recovery window is narrow.
